CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

Business ethics

At Thales Norway we emphasise business ethics, which forms the behaviour throughout our organisation.

On the global corporate top level, to ensure the implementation of its Ethics and Corporate Responsibility approach, Thales has set up a dedicated organisation based on four pillars.

1. The Code of Ethics
Deployed since 2001, the Code of Ethics defines the best practices to adopt in business transactions with customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders and the community. It reflects the Group's desire to apply clear principles in its day-to-day business activities.

The Code of Ethics is the result of sustained reflection, research, analysis and validation. It was drafted following consultations with all internal stakeholders and takes account of the latest international, economic, social and environmental constraints.

The Code of Ethics was updated in 2007. It has been translated into eight languages, is published on the Group's intranet, being thus available to all employees.

2. The Ethics and Corporate Responsibility Committee
The Ethics and Corporate Responsibility committee helps define and implement Group policy regarding ethical standards and corporate responsibility. It also arbitrates on issues submitted by Ethics Officers and directs investigations into cases of non-respect of the Code; the Committee can suggest appropriate actions or sanctions to management.

3. The Ethics and Corporate Responsibility Department
The Ethics and Corporate Responsibility department has five members. It implements the policy defined by the Ethics and Corporate Responsibility committee and coordinates the various activities undertaken in this field at Group level.

4. The Ethics Officers
Ethics Officers are appointed at the main Group levels (country and division). They are responsible for disseminating the Code of Ethics, making recommendations on the application of the Group's ethical policies in divisions and countries, and monitoring their implementation.
They are equally tasked with raising awareness among employees about ethical challenges and adapting the Group's ethical standards to local legislation and practices. Finally, Ethics Officers answer employees' questions about the application of the Code of Ethics.

In Norway where there is not appointed a separate Ethical Officer, the local tasks are performed by the Compliance Officer.

The Code of Ethics is available upon request.

Domestic application of business ethics by Thales Norway
Thales Norway has a clear philosophy of establishing lasting relationships with its customers and suppliers. Based on mutual trust and integrity and they have a right to expect us to provide truthful and honest information, and to provide a good trustworthy working environment.

For Thales Norway, the application of the Code of Ethics and all the other related (group) standards are important. To this end, there are two additional standards implemented by Thales Norway;

-     The Norwegian Ministry of Defence (MOD) guidelines called; “Ethical guidelines regarding business contacts for the defence sector”, issued April 2007, which intends to clarify issues pertaining to contact between defence sector employees and the business world.

-     The AeroSpace and Defence Industry Association of Europe (ASD) issued in 2008 a common industry standard on ethics and anti corruption and implemented in Norway through the Norwegian representative, Forsvarets - og sikkerhetsindustriens forening (FSI), who issued this to its members in Norway on the 7th October 2008, and to which Thales Norway is a member.
